By admin_lifeline

Madhavi Vadera, co founder of Lifelines International has been  invited to Chair the Board of Trustees at Migrant Help. Migrant Help is the largest charity in the sector delivering services for asylum seekers, refugees, survivors of modern slavery and vulnerable EU citizens in the UK.  Its mission is to ‘protect people affected by displacement and exploitation, helping them to thrive’.

The charity, founded in 1963, was originally established as the ‘Kent Committee for the Welfare of Migrants’ (KCWM), in response to an urgent need to support the increasing volume of frightened and vulnerable migrants arriving at UK Ports.

Over the last 50 years, Migrant Help has been at the forefront of providing immediate and essential services, adapting to emerging critical needs and expanding the scope of its work through targeted projects.  For example, Migrant Help’s ‘Victims of Slavery Support’ was launched in 2008, working with the UK Human Trafficking Centre.

Today, it is one of the leading charities working to provide specialist support and accommodation for adult victims and their families in the UK. It is estimated that there are now more slaves in the world than at any other time in history up to 40 million, and the grimmest statistic of all – one in four slaves are children under 18.

Migrant Help lives by its core belief that ‘everyone deserves to feel safe and have their human rights protected.  You can find out more about them at the link below.
